WELCOME TO THE SUBURBAN AFRO

Some Woman Called Claire Worthington Moaning About Her Hair
Hi I’m Claire Worthington a web developer from Greater Manchester.
Officially this is a development site, where I can practice various techniques and be creative without endangering any of the sites I build for clients, but in reality it’s where I come to moan about my hair and discuss, for no obvious reason, the many hair related traumas, I have experienced throughout my life.
There are lots of things about me which rarely change, my hair is definitely not one of them.
From time to time I share some genuinely useful information, such as a lay person’s guide to understanding social media through my hair. It’s also possible that I’ll share deep personal insights or educational material, but it’s unlikely and if I did it would probably be on one of my other websites. Suburban Afro is a place where I don’t have to put too much thought into what I write. It’s where I can test out themes, plug ins and other WordPress related things. It’s a safe space to test things out. I’m currently pondering why the mobile version of this site isn’t displaying all the content on this page and frankly I’d rather ask myself that question on a development site than a live build!
My hair changes every couple of months, so I always have new material to work with. I also create most of the illustrations myself which gives me the opportunity to fight with the pen tool without ruining a clients website or taking weeks to produce artefacts that I needed the same day. If you want to get slightly deeper and learn a little more about me then visit my website WorthyOnTheWeb where I talk about more than just hair.
As far as the content on this site is concerned, I am firmly committed mainly posting random hair stories, that entertain a couple of my friends. Although if random hair related gibberish is your thing, feel free to offer me a book deal or other money spinning opportunities!
I spent my entire childhood wishing I had long straight blonde hair, whilst actually having a short badly maintained afro. I guess those things stay with you.
